Terms of Use

These terms describe the PlayStage app as it works today. The market is shared only by accounts on the same phone. Firebase family sharing, and a market that other phones can see, are not part of the current service. Have the terms reviewed before an App Store release. They are not formal legal advice.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These terms are between you and the operator of PlayStage. By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The operator’s name is not published on this page.
2. Who may use PlayStage
PlayStage is for parents and caregivers arranging play and daily routines from pregnancy through age 6. The account holder must be an adult, or old enough to enter a binding contract where they live. A child must not be asked to create the account.
The app is not directed at children and is not offered as a children’s service. You may add a child profile only for a child you are responsible for.
3. Account responsibilities
On the current version, the account exists only on the phone where you create it. You are responsible for the email and password you choose, and for who can unlock that phone. Use a password you do not use for email or banking. The current password reset does not send an email.
You are responsible for the display name, family name, child profile, and invite codes you create. Do not share an invite code with someone who should not see that family’s calendar.
Roles are owner, parent, caregiver, and view-only. A view-only member may look and may not change records. Do not tell a view-only member that they can edit.
4. Permitted use
You may use PlayStage to:
- Read the bundled play ideas, stage guides, communication tips, and theory cards.
- Keep a family, child profiles, play records, notes, and a weekly plan on that phone.
- Keep a daily routine list and mark items done.
- Turn on a reminder that stays on that phone for the signed-in person who is responsible for the item.
- Write a family activity and attach up to four photos of toys, books, or other materials.
- Share a family activity to the market on this phone, or download one into your family library. Other phones cannot see that market.
Official weekly suggestions stay the bundled activities. A family activity does not replace that set.
5. Prohibited use
You must not:
- Use PlayStage as a medical, therapy, or developmental assessment tool.
- Put a child’s face, a person’s name, a phone number, an address, or any other contact detail into a material photo.
- Upload anything you do not have the right to store, including a book cover or image you may not share even inside a family if doing so infringes someone’s rights.
- Attempt to read or change another family’s data, forge an invite, or bypass a view-only role.
- Probe, scrape, or disrupt the app or these legal pages.
- Use the app for anything unlawful.
6. Content and data you provide
You keep ownership of the text and photos you add. You give the operator permission to store and display that content on the device where the app is installed, to the family members who are allowed to see it under their role. That permission is only for running PlayStage. It ends for a photo or activity when you delete it, except for copies that remain on a phone until that phone’s local data is reset.
This version has a market only for accounts on the same phone. It is not a website, and other phones cannot see it. If you share an activity, other accounts on that phone can read the listing and download a copy into their own family library. The listing includes the activity text and your display name. A photo is included only if you mark that photo for the market. That control is off until you turn it on. A family that has downloaded the activity keeps its copy if you later remove the listing. After that family edits its copy, it can share its own version. A market that other phones can see is not part of this version. If one is released, these terms and the privacy policy will be updated first.
We may remove content from a future cloud service if it breaks these terms. We have no cloud copy of the current app to remove.
7. Intellectual property
The PlayStage name, the selection and wording of the official activities, the stage text, the communication tips, the theory cards, and the app itself belong to the operator or are used with permission, except where a licence says otherwise.

You may not copy the official library or the app and present it as your own product. You may use the play ideas at home with your family.
8. Service availability
The current app works from the copy installed on the phone. Official play content remains available without a network. Reminders depend on the phone, its notification permission, and the operating system’s limits. On iPhone, the system keeps only a limited number of pending local notifications. A reminder can be late or missed. PlayStage does not promise that a routine will happen, or that a notification will arrive at an exact minute.
We may change, pause, or stop features. The on-device version can stop working after an operating-system update. We do not promise a particular update schedule.
9. Third-party services
Apple distributes the iOS app and applies Apple’s terms to download and installation. These legal pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub does not operate the app and does not receive your family records from us.
Links or names of authors inside theory cards are for education. Those authors do not operate PlayStage and are not responsible for how you use a suggestion.
10. Firebase and infrastructure
The current app does not depend on Firebase. It does not sign you in with Firebase, and it does not store your family there. Placeholder Firebase settings in the source code are not a live service.
A later version is planned to use Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage so two phones can share one family. That version is not offered under these terms until this page says it is. When it is offered, the service will depend on Google remaining available. An outage at Google can then block sign-in or sync. Official play pages are still intended to open from the copy inside the app.
11. No medical advice
PlayStage provides informational and organisational features only. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical advice.
Nothing in the app is a promise about a pregnancy or a child’s health or development. You are responsible for deciding what is suitable. Stop an activity if anyone is uncomfortable. If you are worried, speak to a qualified health professional.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The app and these pages are provided as available. To the extent Hong Kong law allows, we do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, that reminders will fire on time, that age suggestions will fit every child, or that stored photos will never be lost if a phone is damaged or the app is deleted. Consumer rights that cannot be excluded still apply.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent Hong Kong law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data stored only on your phone, arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that Hong Kong law does not allow to be excluded.
You use play ideas at your own judgment. The operator is not responsible for an injury during an activity, or for a decision you make about medical care.
14. Termination
You may stop using PlayStage at any time. On the current version, open Profile and choose “Reset local demo data”, then delete the app. That ends the on-device account and clears this phone’s market listings. It does not affect another phone, because there is no shared copy across phones. A family that already downloaded an activity on this phone loses that copy only when this phone is reset.
We may refuse support, or refuse a future cloud account, if you break these terms. We will not remotely wipe the current on-device app, because we cannot reach it.
15. Changes to the service or these terms
We may update these terms by changing this page and the date at the top. If a change adds Firebase storage, a market that other phones can see, or a new operator, the privacy policy will change on the same date. Continuing to use a cloud version after that date means you accept the updated terms. The installed on-device app keeps the behaviour described here until you install an update that says otherwise.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong have jurisdiction, without removing any mandatory right you have in the place where you live.
